Having previously had an awesome penguin experience several years ago at Phillip Island, Victoria, despite the cold weather, I had high expectations for a similar experience this summer at K.I., South Australia. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. All four of us independently concluded that the K.I. penguin experience was lame enough to abandon our tour about half...

We were a bit disappointed that we didn't see very many penguins. In fairness, we went on the earlier tour of the evening and we were advised that we'd probably see more penguins on the second tour, but we were very tired and didn't want to wait another hour. When we would spot a rare penguin...

We joined the 2nd of the 2 trips that take place each night, by which time most of the penguins had reached their chosen place in the rocks to sleep. When I went on a similar tour in Tasmania we actually saw them coming up from the sea, which I think was better - don't know whether this would have...

At 5pm the 'Pelican Man' does a talk and feeds the local pelicans. It is both informative and fun and the plicans are very entertaining. You can get really close if you want to, we visited twice during our stay and my 9 year old son sat front row and loved every minute of it.
The Pelican tour is a...
