The whole family loved the night zoo - food was great and staff were good to talk too. The zoo was great for the kids - had an enjoyable night out. More

Spent 3 hrs here one afternoon - well worth the trouble and expense of getting there from Cairns. Not a huge zoo, but had all the wildlife unique to Australia, including a cassowary. My daughters wanted pics of them holding koalas (a little pricey at $16, but where else are you going to get this?) and the employees were only... More

Another must visit location while in Cairns area. A 20-25 minute drive from Cairns to the Zoo. Holding a Koala is 16.00 but, well worth it. You can hand feed smaller kangaroos. Try to attend the various talks on animals....The zoo is well kept and staff is helpful and friendly. about 60-90 minutes to walk through entire zoo. Your Children... More

This Zoo is located out of town, so you will need to take a bus or to rent a car to get there. However, it is worth it. I've visited numerous ZOO's in Australia (even infamous Australia Zoo), but I liked the Cairns Tropical Zoo the most. It is compact so you don't get tired and there is a nice... More

This Zoo was so fun! It was small enough that you could explore everything in a day's time, but still had enough to keep you busy! They had several informational shows throughout the day, my favorites were the Koala talk, the Lemur & Red Panda talk and the Crocodile feedings. They also have times throughout the day where you can... More

We wanted to visit a zoo where my 16 year old daughter could cuddle a Koala and also feed a Kangaroo and we accomplished both at Cairns Tropical Zoo. The zoo is not that large and when we visited not at all crowded but they have a surprisingly good access to native Australian animals. With the small size and few... More
