We were on the road in the australian outback traveling by bus, listening to aboriginal music. The colour Red dominates. It is 304 KM from Uluru to King's Canyon. Never experienced anything like the King's Canyon walk. It is challenging and beautiful. The rock formations are immense and unusual. The walk takes 3 1/2 hours up and over steep hills... More

King's Canyon is in the Watarrka National Park. The first part of the hike is quite strenuous as you walk up a lot of steps to the top of the rim (~up from the river), after that the hike is moderate. The views and scenery are fantastic. Beautiful hiking with interesting rock formations and incredible scenery. It's a steep climb up a rock staircase to get to the top of the rim, but once you venture farther in amongst the rock formations, you feel like you're in a whole different world.
