This is a wow when the seal pups in abundance. They travel from the ocean shore up a creek and into a fresh water pool that is being fed by a beautiful water fall that is approx. 20 metres high. If you miss it go back as it is truly worth seeing. More

The seal pup colony seems to be a bit of a hidden secret as it is outside of kaikoura but it is not be missed. Try and avoid when tour buses arrive - best bet is to wander around the beach area until they leave - then you get more time to observe.... More
