my wife went crazy in here. She was going ooh, aah, oh my! In the end she settled for a very sweet,round pendant with gold nuggets framed in a lens glass with a 14k frame.

The Gold Room has some beautiful, expensive pieces of gold jewelery but even if you have just the price of a dinner out (say) you can buy some real gold to take home. We stopped by this shop during our stay in Hokitika. Wanted to get some physical 24k gold but the shop only sells gold nuggets. Plus there are also other jewellery/accessories type of gold sold as well. For those who'd like some gold mined directly out of the ground, this is the place to go.
