My wife and I had the good fortune of getting a private astronomy tour from Richard in November 2010. We aren't astronomy people, but are geeky and love science. Richard was able to relate his knowledge to us and was able to answer all of our questions.

Astronomy tours are a great thing to do on your own or with a family; for visitors and locals alike.
Richard runs an entertaining and informative tour based in the clear pollution free skies of Fiordlands Te Anau.
I have done this type of tour before but it is certainly well worth doing again and a great place to start...
