I had been whitewater rafting in my distant past, so was looking forward to doing it again with the family who hadn't. Not sure if it's just due to not a lot of water on the river at the time but my son and I thought the river was pretty tame and my wife was happy because she wasn't confident... More

Very professional group taking you down the Shotover - felt very safe in their hands with clear directions and good consideration for safety. Granted the river was pretty tame when we went down it - evidently in the Spring or after rain you really need to be able to hold on. A great experience in a scenic location with a... More

I can't say I am a big fan of white water rafting and this is the first time I had done it on a river but the scenery was spectacular and the rapids weren't horrific! The drive there on skippers road was very scary! We spent over an hour on the river I think with probably 5 real rapid sections... More

I went rafting with my friend in January. My friend was a little nervous and wanted to do the Kawarau River but thankfully the lady convinced us te Shotover River was much more fun - she was definitely right! The bus ride out to skippers canyon was so scary buy fun and the guides were so funny and totally made... More

We picked the intermediate level and went along the Kawarau River. It was boring and very expensive (around $200 per person). We've been rafting in Bali for $35 a person and it was very scenic and exciting. Maybe it would have been better to go on the Shotover River, but I still can't say its a $200 value. More

The service at the centre was terrible (we dealt with a girl who really couldnt be bothered with our questions) but once on the bus all was forgotten. The bus journey itself is an experience. The Chief was great - clearly very experienced, very reassuring and great sense of humour. We had so much fun and not as scary as... More

Loads of instructions from friendly guides making one expect a thrilling ride but only receiving a tame one. Gorgeous scenery but not too many thrills. Guides state people often fall overboard, although in 4 boatloads no one did, and really hard to imagine how anyone could. Good exercise with the paddling, but no thrills. More

Great day out. The guides were all very knowledgeable and great fun...(they LOVE Australians). The drive through skippers canyon was spectacular. Once on the water they make extra sure you are up with all the skills required and when you hit the rapids....what a RUSH!!! More

We were wowed by the fun of whitewater rafting with Queenstown rafting. We had lots of questions and concerns when planning our trip from Canada but they were very helpful via email. When we arrived on the day of the trip they were well organized. They even offered us a very reasonable upgrade to fly via helicopter into the canyon.... More
