We did the Kingston Flyer trip as part of our journey from Te Anau back to Queenstown. We met family in Kingston and enjoyed a pleasant lunch together at the Station's cafe before boarding the train. We also took the opportunity to walk down to the lake edge and have a play and throw a few stones in the water.... More

Brilliant train chugging along scenic locales. The drive from Queenstown to the starting point is great. Once on the train, there are ample photo opportunities and you feel like being on a royal yesteryears trip! Its great that they have been able to maintain the train over the years! Hope it keeps chugging along for many years to come! More

This activity really exceeded my expectations. On arrival at the station we were welcomed with a roaring fire and piano player. The train and carriages have been kept in original condition with attention to detail. The private cars are a must for a very special experience. We had added fun when the train was held up by bandits on our... More

We were on our way to doubtful sound with a Real Journeys coach when we were offered the option to do a (small) part of the road on the Kingston Flyer, a really good break in a 3 hours bus trip ! Yes it's an extra fee but (discount with RJ) is such a beautiful piece of New Zealand history... More

What a beautiful locomotive, great genuine kiwi folk running this charm. Would have loved to of been able to purchase some souvenirs to suit people in their early thirties tho. But really enjoyed the scenery and got some fantastic pics of the steam and black smoke all puffing. Will do it again next year, as we come to queenstown annually.... More

We had a fantastic fun riding on the Kingston Flyer, loved the authentic old carriages, complete right down to the ornate gas lights and the old fashioned signs. This is an unique experience and should be a MUST do when you are visiting Queenstown. Even my wife Vicki, who is not into steam trains and the like at all, really... More
