$10 for an hour, not far to go, but was a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Cafe looked really good and popular, though didn't eat there

This cafe is in a fantastic location but has consistently failed to use its full potential. Food is mediocre and the layout is cramped and poorly configured.

Grab an old row boat or kayak for a leisurely row up and down the Avon river. You'll have to be careful not to bonk the heads of the many mallard,scaup and paradise ducks who seem to thrive with the human company.

Go late and you have the river to yourself. We left to boat sheds at 17.30 and had a very relaxing Punt up and down the Avon without a single other boat or canoeist to spoil the peacefulness.

We were here Saturday 19th Feb 2011 (3 days before the Christchurch earthquake of 22nd Feb 2011), it wasnt busy and on arriving at the Antigua Boat Sheds we immediatly took out a punt boat along the relaxing Avon River in Christchurch. Punts are shallow canoe type square boats which are propelled along by a man standing at the back...
