the cathedral is in the process of demolition and the area completely cordoned off. It will come back stronger and different but how long?

Unfortunately this is in the red zoned cordon. There are limited times when the public is allowed to enter and definitely worth a visit you you are around then. Have been in to have a last look at the Cathedral before it is pulled down :-(

There was also a craft market in the Square when I visited it. I am not sure if it is still working following the earthquakes but well worthwhile visiting to catch them in their new location.

Cathedral Square is an amazing place to visit, when its re-opened it will be an exciting place to go and see the iconic Christchurch Cathedral and hopefully the markets will still be operating.
