Hi i just got back from mt Olympus. I went with Brett from Black diamond safaris ski and board 4wd transport from Methven . Stayed the night take your own sleeping back for the bunk room,towel and swimming togs for the hot tub. Mt Olympus is a legendary ski club field about 1hr drive into the mountains from Methven up... We’re locals and simply love Mt O. The slopes are uncrowded and the few that visit are there to ski, not to pose. There’s a great vibe and although the facilities are rustic to say the least they’re perfectly functional. If it works why fix it, and when the terrain is as good as it is at Olympus you don’t... Just one fantastic mountain. There's great hiking and big mountain terrain along with back country access for the more advanced skiiers and snowboarder. If you're new to rope tows and the infamous kiwi nutcracker then there's a great learners slope too and the food and night life is second to none.
