The information at this museum is beautifully and innovatively presented. The museum is not particularly large but it is crammed full of great information about Wellington. If you want to know about Wellington and it's history (or just like museums) then you simply must visit the Museum of Wellington City & Sea. Since Te Papa has a national focus, you... More

What a treasure trove! Loved the timeline of exhibits with a blend of both visual, written and in some cases aural components. Very impressed with the Wahine Disaster Film and the Millenium Ago which featured Maori myths and legends.

Well positioned in the old Bond Store on the waterfront, this is an interesting and clearly presented look at Wellington's history. The "Wahine" exhibit is very well done.

Granny, three year old twins and parents all enjoyed this museum. The kids enjoyed steering the ship, and the wahine video and maori mythology keep the adults interested. The gift shop has a good selection of things. Recommended for a free day out. There is a lift to on the left hand side of the building if you want to avoid... More

Despite having grown up in Wellington and visiting at least annually since I left, I had never visited this museum before and was more than pleasantly surprised-it's well worth a visit. We were pressed for time (and it was one of those perfect Wellington days where you really need to be outside along the waterfront) but I will make a... More

Just down the street, you can walk along the water, from Te Papa is this little museum. It had a wonderful exhibit spanning each year from the 1900-2000. Very interesting. The upper floors cover exactly what the museum is titled, the history of the city and her relationship w/the sea. If you enjoy naval history this is a nice little... More

An interesting museum which covers Wellington's past and the role of the sea in the making of the city. Definitely a good place to while away a couple of hours

Even if you only have half an hour this museum is well worth a look - lots of interactive exhibits and very enthusiastic staff. There is plenty to keep you entertained for longer too. Definitely worth a visit if you want to know more about Wellington's past.
