Kaiate Falls is just a 20 minute walk down (40 min. return) to the bottom through native bush. On your way you pass several falls. Very beautifull and peacefull. There are several swiming holes and you could bring a pick-nic.

we are locals and our family enjoys this short and at times a little challenging (if you are used to walking only in town on the flat) walk. Gorgeous bush and fantastic waterfall for swimming

It was a little cool for a swim that day, but we really enjoyed our hike down to multiple waterfalls. Remote parking lot- don't leave anything in sight, and have all your valuables on your person.

Kaiate falls are a short drive away from Tauranga and are well worth it. There are several high powerful falls one after the other, with a pool in between. There is a nice easy trail which takes you along. In some of the pools you can even swim (depending on the water temperature).
