We really should've taken a picnic and spent the day exploring the park as it really is lovely and was one of the highlights of our visit to New Plymouth.
We spend a couple of hours wandering around the park itself after visiting the "zoo" and before visiting the gallery and Japanese garden.
The gardens are extensive and I know...

This park is absolutely amazing, great walks and tracks in very good order. Features a lake and waterfall, wonderful bush - they use for WOMAD and it is ideal for that event

Beautiful park with a fantastic coffe house, beautiful lakes, well maintained garden and some history. A great place for a relaxing walk, run or just to feed the ducks. Great events like WOMAD (World of Music Art and Dance). Worth a visit on a regular basis.

Have a wander through the free flight enclosure, meander through the farmyard with alpacas, kune kune pigs, rabbits, goats and donkey. Theres also a nice playground for the kiddies. And its all free.
Pukekura Park rates as one of the...

We recently had a few days in New Plymouth, New Zealand. This is a location off the normal tourist track in the North island of New Zealand. We had family business to attend to and we were also visiting for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
It was a pleasant surprise made more festival by the multi national flags around the...
