A wonderful peaceful place to visit, beautiful gardens and a tranquil lake. Have enjoyed visiting here on many occassions over the last 50 years and every time is a new experience. More

We really should've taken a picnic and spent the day exploring the park as it really is lovely and was one of the highlights of our visit to New Plymouth. We spend a couple of hours wandering around the park itself after visiting the "zoo" and before visiting the gallery and Japanese garden. The gardens are extensive and I know... More

This park is absolutely amazing, great walks and tracks in very good order. Features a lake and waterfall, wonderful bush - they use for WOMAD and it is ideal for that event More

This is an extensive park in New Plymouth - every year they have the festival of the lights for about 6 weeks - if you are there during this time go and have a look at them (it's free) You can also stroll over and do as much or as little walking as you like during the day. Three is... More

Beautiful park with a fantastic coffe house, beautiful lakes, well maintained garden and some history. A great place for a relaxing walk, run or just to feed the ducks. Great events like WOMAD (World of Music Art and Dance). Worth a visit on a regular basis. More

The availability of the mobility scooter was great! We had a bit of trouble with the map, though: the green writing was hard to read and we never seemed to be quite where we thought. We could not tell which routes were scooter-friendly, either, so we had to backtrack a couple of times. The cafe was lovely, with its tame... More

We visited Pukekura Park during our recent visit to New Plymouth. It had been recommended to us and we were certainly not disappointed. It is quite amazing that a park of this magnitude exists virtually in the center of a major city. The lakes, surrounded by acres of gardens and rain forest, with Mt Taranaki towering above them, presents a... More

Brooklands Zoo - a great little zoo. Theres capuchin monkeys, cotton top tamarins and now some amazing wee squirell monkeys. Have a wander through the free flight enclosure, meander through the farmyard with alpacas, kune kune pigs, rabbits, goats and donkey. Theres also a nice playground for the kiddies. And its all free. Pukekura Park rates as one of the... More

It's not an immense park, but a nice place to have a wander. Some nice photo ops, with Mt Taranaki in background. Is hop, skip and jump from Devon Street (main street) More

We recently had a few days in New Plymouth, New Zealand. This is a location off the normal tourist track in the North island of New Zealand. We had family business to attend to and we were also visiting for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. It was a pleasant surprise made more festival by the multi national flags around the... More
