Unfortunately the park was partially closed due to storm damage and the rhododendrons were not flowering.Cafe closed etc But I am sure that if you go at the right time of the year it would be stunning.

So many rhododendrons. And when they are blooming definitely worth a visit. Quite a drive, but just do it.

These extensive gardens are about 30 minutes car travel out of New Plymouth towards the mountain on a good sealed road. Entry is free. Access around the gardens is excellent on wide footpaths (good for wheelchairs), with freedom to wander on lawn areas.
