This geothermal area is a great place to wander around and wonder at the boiling water and mud, steam, sulphur crystallization, lakes and a hot waterfall set in amongst some bush. We wanted to try the mud spa and so we heading to Hells Gate. It was a bit far from town and I would say it is a bit of costly if we were to compare to another spa centre in Rotorua. The grounds are unkepmt, the facilities are filthy, it is waaay over priced and there is nothing special at all about the place. A waste of time and money. My partner went there and it was so bad we walked as fast as we could so that we didn't waste any more of our time. Such a huge disappointment. More

We had a wonderful time in Rotorua New Zealand. There is so much to do and people are really friendly. Nature is absolutely fabulous. We were looking for a mud bath and a dip in a geothermal pool.
