Fabulous views right out at the point where the gannet colonies are - we were on quad bikes which allowed us to get right out there which we hired from Cape Kidnappers Lodge - Aidan our guide was great but definitely not a ride for the novice rider

We had a private tour out to the cape and the views are excellent. Our guide (the owner of Gannet Safaris Overland) was warm, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about the area - a great history to match the incredible views. Highly recommended that you get out to the point - even when the gannets are gone. There were about 200...

The cliffs are spectacular, with magnificent views of Hawke's Bay north and south. The landscape and seascape would be enough to make the visit very worthwhile, but it's hard to find superlatives for the Gannet Safari (see website). You're driven between and over the hills (with pauses to stop and look at the staggering views) to the clifftop, where you...

Viewing a gannet colony sounded great so we signed up, boarded the especially powerful bus and started the long drive in the beautiful countryside of Cape Kidnappers. After what seemed like a long while, we turned up a corner and there it was, all of it, directly in front of us, with the thousands of birds separated from all of...

This was awesome and informative. A must do when in Napier - tho it is seasonal. The guides were well informed and very approachable
We went out to Cape Kidnappers Resort for lunch and looked at the golf course. Lunch was wonderful and the drive in beautiful. The course was just too hard for a golfer recovering from shoulder surgery. This is a private course and resort so you need to call ahead for reservations.
I came out of golf "retirement" to play at this course given its reputation. Deserves its place on the would golf pecking order. Challenging but not heartbreaking. Understated luxury in the clubhouse (think small hunting lodge) and exceptional service from the team there.
Four of us went on this trip in mid-March. Beautiful scenery, and close ups of the gannet colony, you need to be reasonably fit to take the 20 min hike up the mountain to see the birds close-up, also, ride along the sands is bumpy , if you have back problems then take a pass. Our guide, Rod , was...

This was a amazing experience to watch Gannets giving birth to their little ones. the trip is very scenic and the view from the top of the mountain is breathtaking especially in summer season when gannets colony are formed. Although there is a bit of stink as you go close to the gannets it is still worth the trip.
Ok, I would have preferred not to have walked to the Gannet colony but it's a long way and the tractor ride along the beach was educational as well as touristy. Our driver gave us a real insight into the geology. I could have done without the splashing through the waves but it was a good trip and the close...
