Located in the small and quiet side of Kitchener St., right in the heart of Auckland, this gallery was really 'art'. I enjoyed a whole day to walk inside it, just to watch everything, from 15th century's masterpiece to Maori portraits... The gallery is easy to access and is in a wonderful building. There is a great permanent collection of New Zealand artists and other interesting exhibits at this time including kinetic sculpture, prints and Victorian art. Love the new Auckland Art Gallery, great building, nice mix of NZ and international art displayed. Especially the large-scale works working very well with the building make it enjoyable. More

We visited the Auckland Art Gallery to view Degas to Dali. The exhibition was extremely well presented and we were able to view these art treasures without the crowds you experience in Europe. Staff were helpful and managed the large numbers of visitors very well. Retail was a little short staffed but they did really well. More

When you walk up the stairs toward the cafe, use the back of the gallery and you get a great view toward Albert park. At the moment the trees are in colour and it is a lovely view. The presentation of the works could do with some improvement but I expect they will work on that as it has only... More

I love art galleries and visit a lot of them. This one was a bit disappointing. It had an amateurish feel to it, as though works were hung without much forethought to the flow of art. More

Art Galleries are always worth a visit. They can fill a rainy day perfectly and the Auckland Gallery is consistently fresh. Not a fusty place at all. More
