I found this place to be very interesting and had a great time. Went for a late breakfast at the restaurant (huge serving and well worth the money), then walked around the gallery. Art work is interesting and clever. Would visit again.

The gallery hosted the 5th triennial recently and the exhibition space and the pieces displayed had the modern artists take on local and international themes. The staff are knowledgable and helpful and children are welcome. There is a lovely cafe with park views to relax and review the artworks. It is close to most of the CBD and in easy... More

A very pleasant place to visit. The building is airy and spacious, with attractive open spaces to walk through and plenty of room afforded to the art works. The design is simple and the whole effect is clean and uncluttered. The cafe is very good (some balcony seating up among the leaves, complete with visiting sparrows!) and the lifts, toilets... More

Free Guided tour by volunteer, Amanda, helped give an overview of the gallery history and New Zealand art. Modern building extension integrates with the trees of Albert Park through large glass windows, giving light and spaciousness. Cafe excellent too.

A wonderful place to spend a few hours, especially on a rainy Auckland day. Interesting architecture seamlessly adding a large addition to an older Auckland building. Excellent exhibits and a fine cafe. Few other major cities have such an excellent facility with no entrance fee.
