great value for money and the trip there on the tram only adds to the ambience. We spent pretty much the whole day there and rushed at the end as the zoo was closing. Flat with good access if you needed it, but for us the best bit is the ambience of the place. The Asian section was very much... More

I have become a member of the Melbourne zoo and therefore go a lot with my now 2 yo daughter. we love it! As far as world class zoo's go I cant really comment as I haven't been to many around the world, but its a good zoo with some interesting exhibits, most of which have been upgraded in the... More

On the day of our visit the temperature was 36 degrees, so it was a very hot morning and we found the zoo to be very dry and dusty. I think Melbourne had not had rain for a while, so this is not really a negative comment, but just a comment on how we found it on the day of... More

Can be very busy and if any babies have been born you probably have a slim chance of seeing them. There is a grass picnic area and some interactive things for small children I always like the giraffes but whatch that shop they make you walk through to exit

We are members of the zoo and go often. We love the new area where kids can dress up as a vet/researcher/etc and play at these roles. The zoo has a playground which is a good place to meet and lots of exhibitions. We see the ones that are enclosed, such as the butterflies, the seals and the reptiles during... More

Most of the larger animals seemed to pacing back & forth where the food gets delivered. I found it distressing to watch. The lone tiger was running back & forth along a back fence line...it looked like he was fretting. It was difficult to see some of the animals as they were are the backs of the enclosures. All of... First time to Melbourne and I really wanted to come here after watching the television series. The zoo is very big so to experience all the animals you need to be prepared to spend all day. We must have picked a bad day to go as the place was full of different groups of young school kids screaming around. Kids... More
