The drive to Bruny Island ferry from Hobart is picturesque, as is the island itself. Wonderful views over to the island of Tasmania from the walking tracks in the National Park which are well defined.

A short ferry trip to the Island. Facilities are few and far between, but the scenery is magnificent and the sweeping coastal views from the Lighthouse make the long drive out to the point make the drive worthwhile. I would suggest a four wheel drive for tackling the gravel roads, though our sedan did manage quite well. To fully appreciate...

We went over on the car ferry ($30 return for the car and people in the car), it was a quick 20 minute ride.
Head straight to Adventure bay and did a walk there - Flute something to Grass Point (they aren't the exact names, but something like that) took 3 hours and though it had its hard parts, the...

This can be a pleasant area to walk around, yet don't allocate it too much time, because compared to the rest of Tasmania, it isn't that impressive- the views are quite nice, yet there are more spectacular in other places.
The whole of Bruny Island is a natural wilderness and well worth hiring a car and exploring. Access is via a car ferry that leaves from Kettering many times per day. Just the novelty of a car ferry made the trip worthwhile.
Once on Bruny, it is surprisingly big and does need an overnight stay if you hope to do...

We went and saw a few other places on the way down to the national park and they were Cape Bruny Light house which is free and has some wonderful views so go there for a look. The other place which was a nice cool place to swim was Adventure bay. The water here is as clear as a bell....

I've been travelling around Tasmania for a month and a half now and Bruny Island is by far my favourite destination yet. This is great for families, adventure seekers or just vacationers. The white sand beaches are irresistible and the hiking, oh the hiking. If you've got a couple hours to spare, I highly recommend the fluted cape walk. This...

The views on the drive down to the lighthouse are great with heaps of photo ops. But walk up to the lighthouse and WOW. True Australian natural beauty.
Car ferry a great experience and Bruny Island is just beautiful. So much to see, can do it in a day but probably worth staying at least one night.
We stayed for two nights on South Bruny Island in a cabin at Adventure Bay. It was right on the ocean with fantastic views and we took a few walks in the national park. The weather was perfect and I will certainly return there one day.
