I was taken here in 1995 by a romantic interest who'd brought me down to Hobart from Melbourne and showed me round the various historical attractions in Hobart and surrounds in a very sweet and dear way and we climbed the tower with his best friend. I'd never been back and so made the pilgrimage when I was there last... More

The Shot Tower is worth a visit to climb the twisting staircase to the top. There are good views from the top. You can learn and see how shot was made. More

We have been regular visitors over the past 22 years. Dianne and Rod run this business, they have kept costs down, so families can enjoy some history without an expensive price tag. The big climb up, is all worth the great views. After the the climb enjoy home made treats, scones with a great selection of jams with real whipped... More

The shot tower itself is really interesting but the museum section needs a little work. James was lovely but the older lady in the shop was a bit snappy and put us off. Otherwise a nice place to visit and the view is worth the climb! More

This attraction is easily accessed from the city and can be visited on-route to the southern beachside suburbs of Hobart. Pick a clear day to visit. The best part by far the climb up the narrow stairs - 300+ stairs- to the top of the Shot Tower. The view is spectacular. You need to pay a small fee to enter... More

This historic tower is the last one standing in the southern hemisphere. Tasmania has so much to offer in our past settlement history. More

This attraction holds an interesting piece of history and is worth the visit for the $7 entry fee. We had great fun counting the steps and marvelling at the sheer height of the tower. Fantastic view too! More

The shot tower is on the main road at Taroona, just past Sandy Bay. Theres a bus stop just outside and a small car park. The entrance fee is cheap enough (i forget how much). They show you a video at the beginning before you walk up. Theres quite a nice view of the hills across the river. They have... More
