This is at the reconstructed Port Arthur prison. The whole parki is interesting and informative. Do not miss a visit. More

Very informative. Transportation seems harsh treatment for often very minor crimes. But at shown here, those transported were always repeat offenders. If you fight against the system, you get continue to get... More

We arrived in between organised tours and only had one day in Hobart. When we explained this they arranged to give us a private tour. Our guide was excellent and really knew the history of the building and we appreciated the fact that they accommodated us outside organised tour hours. The building has to be unique as is was built... More

I dashed over from Salamanca Market for the 2pm tour and having spoken to Ron I think it was our tour guide, he agreed to open the door and let me in if I arrived 10 minutes late, which was lucky for three National Trust members who arrived at the same time and therefore were let in. As a 41-year... More

Very eerie but historical! Not a must see but if you enjoy world history, do visit. The Separate Prison is better. More

When we arrived we did not expect the visit to be as fascinating as it was. In the end we were there for 2.5 hours! Yes, the prison itself has been demolished, but what you see is so much more than the chapel, because it housed solitary confinement cells, the place for hangings and became the magistrates' court and supreme... A very interesting place to visit. You wouldn't even think such a great piece of history was there. A very informative (and personalised - often in small groups) tour. We were glad we visited. More
