Pretty elaborate exhibition of nautical gadgets and maritime history. We chose to come here over the Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery because two-thirds of it was under renovation. Good decision! Go upstairs to the mini art gallery as well.

So impressed with the quality and quantity of exhibits. As a recycled teenager I was pleased to get a concessionary entrance price. Museum staff were knowledgeable and helpful. Exhibits are supported by informative and well written signs. Allow at least 2 hours to get the most from tis museum. I knew so much more about Tasmania and its maritime history...

You will understand so much about Hobart and Tasmania from visiting this museum with its dense and comprehensive exhibitions. It has a great shop too. I would definitely have 2 hours here.

I also wondered what the ship...

A small, cramped museum with fairly good exhibits on maritime history and its relationship to Hobart's development. There were parts that could have been expanded to further elaborate on shipping's significance and it would have been better if it was spread out over a larger space. I would recommend about half an hour for a good overview of all the...

A fascinating video record of whaling set to Moby Dick and interesting memorabilia. Not a free museam, which is fine but the Tasmania museum across the street is fantastic with a great antartica display.
