The site is just a boundary of stone and brick walls. There is a small gift shop on site. Okay for a look if you have nothing else to do. If you decide to do Louisa's Walk you come here as part of the tour. More

Was not able to obtain tickets for Louisa's Walk because of short notice, but was very impressed with the alternate performance held at 11 AM in the main yard of the first factory which told the story of Prisoner #71 from the time she arrived until she was finally released. The two actors that performed made the experience for all... More

We went to the female factory, Her Story as Louisa's Walk was booked out. A well presented talking exhibit, well acted and definitely puts you there. I believe the presentation is in its' infancy and is an alternative to LW. Without the acting there is little to see but on a miserable drizzly day that we had really gives you... More

We visited this as part of Louisa's Walk (which runs for 2 hours from 2pm), however there is also 'Her story' which runs for a shorter time from 11am. Both have the same 2 actors as the cast with few props. These are in ruins and of themselves would not mean much, but the history is fascinating. The ruins consist... More

"Her Story" was an amazing way to get a real feel for what it was like to be an inmate of the female factory. It was a moving reenactment of the life of one of the women sentenced to the female factory that involved the audience in an emotional and interactive journey. This was so much better than reading signs... More

I had read quite a lot about the Female Factory before leaving the UK, as this is where the history of our two countries overlaps. There is little to see on the site now - part of it has been built on and for the rest little but perimeter walls survive. This is an education in itself as it shows... More

We toured the female factory now a historic heritage site if interested in the perspective of female convicts. We did this as part of Louisa's walk which i would very highly recommend doing. It is a great reenactment and strolling theatre by 2 very talented individuals. More

We had a wonderful experience here!!! Even our 4 yr old enjoyed herself. The amazing guide made us feel as if we were actually there in the convict erra. The stories and hard facts are delivered in a truly fantastic, informative, moving ( I was holding back the tears) way. The stories were finished always on the positive by the guide.We... More
