I recently visited MONA, Moorilla Estate's museum of old and new art, which was excellent, however was dismayed to find native birds (endemic Native Hens) entangled in twine from the vineyard. Very disappointing, especially given that we couldn't catch the birds ourselves and when I contacted Moorilla to alert them to the problem and see if something could be done... More

We stayed in Roy which was expensive but decadent. The children had a fantastic time and we loved breakfast. Dinner at the Source was fine but service a little too slow and a very hushed atmosphere, perhaps more suited to older couples rather than families or singles. Overall the atmosphere and service for the Pavillions was friendly and quirky rather... More

Stayed in Brett Whiteley paviliion for two nights, one of 8 on site. It has 2 bedrooms and is very suitable for families but has stairs so parents with toddlers should think about this before going. The MONA complex is amazing, the views spectacular, the accommodation amazing. Just pretend you were invited by a close, very rich friend to stay at... More

It's not often I dig my heels in but I will never visit Moorilla again. As a born and breed Tasmanian I have visited this place over the years and have always been disappointed but the attitude of staff, quality or lack thereof in food and wine has finally rendered this place a no go zone. As self confessed wine... More

We stayed here for one night in the two bedroom Brett Whitely Pavillion. As we were 3 girlfriends visiting the museum this is the only pavillion which can have 2 single beds and a double so was perfect for us. Gorgeous outlook on the river, every mod con, full kitchen (definitely not used by us) cute little Aesop bath products,... More

My husband and I simply adored our nights at Moorilla. This is real funky accommodation with tongue-in-cheek humour. The food wasn't anything to rave about. But the pavilions are to die for. They're full of gadgetry, a little too much at times. Touch panels control everything from your blinds to your TV which drops down from the ceiling. A full... More

This is a huge story thanks to owner art patron and gambler David Walsh.Lets hope the winnings keeps coming as there are still bills to pay.A new winery and the huge museum (MONA opens Jan 2011) The accommodation name seems to be changing to MONA pavilions too.The present drive approach is poor but that will change. To understand this place... More

Staying at Moorilla was the highlight of 5 days in Tasmania! We booked on line and got a "cheaper" rate for our March stay. Everything about it is just beautiful, the restaurant, the views, the wine tasting area, the gorgeous young staff. But by far the best was the room, we stayed in the Sidney room which is sooo tastefully... More

What a great place, great views, fantastic modern rooms, and beautiful wine. However the food for our evening meal (we were at a wedding) was average, and nothing special. The next morning for breakfast they forgot the toast and ran out of ingredients in the big breakfast - which many had ordered so many went without sausages and toast etc.... More

This place is stunning! The views from the restaurant are gorgeous and the food was just outstanding! We had lunch here on a Saturday, and even though they were preparing for two weddings later that evening, the staff were meticluous, helpful and friendly. We thought the meals were great value and the wines and beers were awesome. Make sure you... More
