Fantastic dive. The variety and quantity of sea-life on the single site certainly trumps most other sites from Cairns. I can't say enough about the Yongala, I saw every fish and coral I was looking for, even though it was post-Yasi. Having done quite a few dives around Cairns and Port Douglas, the staff here felt a little less 'drilled'.... More

Amazing! The Yongala Dive crew are highly organised and very professional. We landed in Townsville, picked up a car and drove to Alva Beach (near Ayr) to the Dive Shop and accommodation. A relaxing drive about an hour and a half from Townsville airport (we saw an abundance of wildlife including a turtle on the road down). We arrived and... More

We drove to Alva beach to dive rather than taking the long boat trip from Townsville and it was worth it. Visibility was not great but an interesting dive though expensive. More

We specifically went to Townsville to dive the world famous wreck the SS Yongala, but it didn't turn out to be a happy experience. We booked a day trip with the Townsville based diving company called Adrenalin diving. http://adrenalindive.com.au/ The trip itself involves a 3 hour boat ride from Townsville to the dive site location, where you do to dives,... Awesome dive, tons of "big stuff" like nurse sharks, marbled rays and REALLY big fish. Fun with decent current too, it's like an amusement-park ride. More

I booked this trip as a lasty minuite thing as it looked like it would fit in nicely with the time I had left in Oz. When I met people and told them my plans they were saying to me that it is one of the 10 best dive sites in the world and that I wouldnt be dissapointed. Well... More

I am a dive instructor and was lucky to dive the S.S.Yongala with Yongala Dive out of Ayr. What an amazing site. It is like the whole barrier reef condensed on to one dive site with absolutely huge fish. Saw some massive rays, turtles, countless numbers of fish and even a big bull shark! Great day out on the boat... More

Unfortunately, we were on a tight schedule and were not able to schedule our dive ahead of time, so we could not dive the Yongala this time. =( However, one of the staff made a suggestion for where we should dive on the Great Barrier Reef and called/booked our overnight dive trip for us! That is great service. I cannot... More
