High speed Cat to Island takes 45 minutes. Crew excellent. Available to snorkel, beach, dive, tour by walking. Glass bottom boat or submersible sub very good but not inexpensive.
need more than half a day .you can eat there and higher snorkle gear . and they had sun loungers for rent on beach .amazing sights just walk the beach to see it
We took the ferry to Green Island. The ferry ride was nice. The views were impressive. We signed up for the glass bottom boat. It doesn't go over an impressive part of the reef. There were a lot of fish. Not much hard coral due to the crown of thorn starfish destroying it. If you have never seen a reef... More
great weather, easy transport, cant wait to go again .very nice atmosphere.snorkeling under the pier was awesome. Food on the island was reasonable ,but would pack a lunch next time
we spent a day there scubadiving - it was nice though the water wasn't really nice from the rain. We could see corals and fish. It was a nice day but a bit expensive (over 100$) as it's very busy and touristy. I would recommend if you can to pay a bit more and find a less crowded option.
we chose to stop by the island on the way to GBR, but looking back we could have just skipped this stop, and gone to the reef directly, giving us more time snorkeling. The island is very small with some beaches and lot of tourists, and we didn't find anything compelling to do or see. The snorkel off the beach... More

It was a smooth trip (never been on a ferry before) and took about 40 minutes. Beautiful weather, on ferry we were offered a choice of snorkelling or a glass bottom boat tour, we opted for the... It was a pleasant trip to the green island . It takes approx of 15 to 30 mins from the quay of Cairns. Activities include Snorkeling which was very good , Semi Submersible boat which helps you to take a look at the reef without getting wet and also the glass bottom boat.
The reef was such a let down. The Island had nothing on it and boy I am glad that I did not pay big bucks to stay on the Island. Fancy paying big dollars and the small Island gets overrun by day trippers every day. If you do want to snorkel and see great coral you have to go much... More
1/2 day tour was enough for us, although if you had to spend the day, that would be cool too. One hour snorkelling, then a glass bottom boat tour, a little time to relax, then back to shore. Lots of marine life and coral. Well worth it.
