RIVER TUBING
The experience itself was very good though we had issues with the organisation. We were told the pickup time was 7am. When we got to the pickup location we rang the helpline to double check we were in the right place and were told the pickup was 7.48am, then they didn't arrive till 8.20am. The girl on the bus was very rude and off hand. Without welcoming us she demanded in a rather agressive manner "who is settling your bill today" given we had already paid we were quite shocked by this. She was referring to the river charge which we were aware of. She used the same manner with others that joined at the next pick up location. We also had not been sent the email waiver form we should have completed before the trip, so had to do that on her tablet.
Once all on board she then proceeded to put the fear of god into us as to what was likely to happen to us. We would fall in, they would drag us out by the straps on the life vest, etc by the time she finished we thought we had signed up for the most horredous white water rafting experience and were seriously thinking about not going. (we were booked on the river tubing.) A number of people spoke to us and said the same. The girls also advised me not to take my waterproof camera as it was likely to get smashed on the rocks. As it happened we actually had a really enjoyable day and I was very disappointed not to have taken my camera as I could have got some lovely photos. I don't believe anyone fell in on the trip and there were over 50 of us. Far from the bleak picture the girl had painted, it was a nice leisurely experience.
Facilities wise there is nothing. When you finish you are basically on the edge of the road and there is nowhere to change, so you end up getting on the bus wrapped in your towel, wet. Luckily I had a bikini on - tip for the ladies - and managed to change my bottom half. My top half had only got a bit splashed so was able to put a dry t-shirt on top.
