This library is a place for people to explore and to grow. Plenty of activities for the kids. Tons of exhibitions and things to do. Central location. And it's free.

SLQ have an excellent and extensive collection of Artist Books in all shapes and formats from codex forms to sculptural objects. You can phone ahead and arrange an appointment to see a choice of this interesting art form. They do presentations for individuals as well as large groups. Great public service and a great way to see more of the...

At the time of our visit, there was a writer's festival at the State Library of Queensland. Attending some of the events exposed us to some thought provoking presentations. There were an extensive variety of topics starting with Indigenous Australia heritage and culture to global shift in political viewpoints. The wonderful aspect of these presentations is that they were made...

The State Library of QLD was recently upgraded, say 3 years ago or so. It is not a fully modern and fully resourced public treasure. It is a genuinely fantastic library.
I am really impressed by the facilities on the South Bank. The SLQ has wifi available all over the place, an impressive reference library, and plenty of different spaces to enjoy. A lot of good courses run from here, especially by Queensland Writers Centre. A great resource. I hope it survives Mr Newman's axe.
Totally not like any library I had ever seen... hardly a book to be seen..very high tech, comfortable, modern, and quite busy when we were there. Not my scene as I don't need to use it, but very worth while visiting just to see how a state of the art library works.
Free wi-fi, millions of books on the shelves and able to be requested in, a peaceful setting and lots of space to study and learn - what more could you possibly want? The relaxing of the bag policy makes this place even easier and better to use. There are also so interesting exhibitions of historic materials on level 4 and...

We had a specific pre planned piece of research in the Oxley section of the state library. Not only is it a remarkable building but the staff were absolutely wonderful. We spent some hours with the curator and returned the following day to followup more leads. Again the staff were not 'juts public servants' they were interested, dedicated and so...

I'm travelling Australia and every now and again I need Internet for emails, Skype, Dropbox and various other things. This is the first place where I've found free Internet and I can download as much as you need. This is great for travellers well great for anyone passing by who might need Internet fit something.
Fantastic for studying or Skyping if you want to use the free internet! You cannot hire books here though. It's just a quiet place to go and view the city from. The area around it is nice for walking and sightseeing and there's a cafe where you can stop for a coffee if you're headed to GOMA.
