The area

Neighbourhood: Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to Dj’s. Families can visit the Chinese Gardens of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Sydney Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.

    Awesome experience
It was an awesome experience. The zoo keepers talk were very informative and very well presented. We were able to feed Princess, the cassowary grapes, his favourite food. We saw Kofi, the tree kangaroo up close, same with Koalas and their joeys. The 4 Tasmanian devils were very active, scooting around, such fun to watch. We were also able to stroke the kangaroos and give them a scratch. The whole experience was memorable and I took hundreds of pictures, there was so much to see and do. We absolutely had a blast and really enjoyed our visit. We purchased the 3 attractions package, which gave us the opportunity to visit Sea Life, Wildlife and also the Sky Tower, a great combination! 🙂👍
G'Day JungleQueen2103! Thank you so much for the PAW-SOME review! WOW! We are so stoked to hear that you truly made the most of your time at WILD LIFE Sydney, and that you were able to feed Princess (you know he really loves his grapes), meet the handsome Mr Kofi, see our Tassie Devils play tag with each other and see the koalas and kangaroos up close and personal! We definitely agree with the benefit of purchasing the multiple attraction pass, then you get to visit all of our sister attractions! We hope to see you back again soon! Cheers, WILD LIFE Sydney Team

    Okay, but small
I went around all three attractions in one day with the zoo taking just less than an hour to go around. I was quite disappointed with how small it was squished by the harbour next to an aquarium and madame Tussaud's, when Australia is so big. They had the main Australian animals which was nice to see and we had fun. But don't get your hopes up thinking this is a zoo, it's more of an Australian animal whistle stop tour wildlife park. I find the wildlife sanctuaries more ethical, where the animals have been rescued and cannot be released or will be released. Although the Tasmanian devil talk did mention they were helping fight their battle with oral tumours, which is great to hear.
Hi there, Fern. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo. We're sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your experience. Many of our animals are rescue and our keepers provide them quality care, ensuring they are provided the opportunity to stimulate themselves physically and mentally through enrichment. We are proud to support the Tasmanian Devil population and raise awareness of their declining numbers, and we also support many other unique Australian species such as the cassowary, koala and wombat. We do this through our WILD LIFE Conservation Fund, which you are welcome to visit to see just how we support the Australian ecological system. If you have any further feedback, please email us at wildlifesydney@merlinentertainments.com.au Regards, the WILD LIFE Sydney Team

    Awesome insight to Australian wildlife
Brilliant small zoo of just Australian wildlife: koalas, platypus, kangaroos, crocs, wombats, tassie devils, cassowary, lots of birds, lots of insects, lots of reptiles, all up close. Loved it! Contrary to a couple of the reviews here, although the zoo is small, I saw no indication of classic stressed animal behaviour, and the animals seemed well-accustomed to people.
G'Day Barry, Thank you so much for your AMAZING review! We are so stoked to hear that you enjoyed meeting all of our WILDLIFE residents and hopefully you learnt something new about their incredible adaptations and behaviours as well! We hope to see you again for another adventure! Cheers, WILD LIFE Sydney Team

    Surprisingly good
Right on the harbour side next to the sealife centre. Looks expensive but for an ethical zoo in the city it’s pretty good value. There is a trail up through the zoo, a bit like sealife centres. Overall not a lot of animals but we saw most of them. Highlights were the tree kangaroo, snakes, crocodiles, platypus and the koalas. Keepers very happy to talk about the animals. Great to see the Koalas close up.

    Adorable Animals and Superb Staff!!
We came and had a wonderful experience visiting all the animals and engaging with your lovely staff. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the animals and in-particular the Australian animals that we can’t see back in the UK. A lady in particular called Adele who is from Brazil and can speak numerous languages was so lovely. She is a credit to your company and she was on her break and still engaged with us for quite a long time and answered all of our questions on the animals. Spent pretty much all day on your premises and would definitely recommend visiting here to all animal lovers and anyone who loves their animals. This was a Birthday celebration we had been waiting over 3 years to celebrate and visiting here was probably the highlight of the day and one of the highlights of my holiday!!

    Fantastic
Couldn’t decide between this and taragona zoo. This was absolutely perfect for what we wanted - the koalas are GORGEOUS. We just wanted to see the main Aussie animals - kangaroos, wombats, Tasmanian devils, crocs and koalas and this place didn’t disappoint. Have been to many zoos and seen animals sleeping in the distance but this is very close and hands on - LOVED IT

Christmas with the Crocs and Koalas
Sydney on the 25th of December... what was open, this Zoo! Got in early before the crowds... and boy, did they came. My only gripe about entering, and the entire visit, is the walkway. It is a bit to tiresome for someone pushing a grown person on a wheelchair, maybe add some space for rest stops so we don't hinder the line. With that aside, the zoo gave a cozy feeling and then it just wows. Small turns for some areas but it gets wide for the featured animals. Some of the lizards, they were already looking at us before we spotted them, cool and he wombats, very cute. Personal favorites were the Crocodile Billabong and the Koala Rooftop. The crocodiles were active that day and they really look menacing on the water. As for the Koalas, they made this Christmas Day more special as they were also very active when we there for pictures and snacks, even though we were told they sleep for almost 20hrs per day. Hope the photo kiosks get a good maintenance soon as some of them were on the fritz, but luckily, team members were glad to assist us.

This was exactly what we wanted to see with our limited time in Sydney before going on a cruise ship. It was also close by in Darling Harbour. I felt the price was fair and I was able to see Kangaroos and Kuwala Bears which are only found in Australia.

The place is sizeable and we went early morning when it first opens at 10am. We finished it in 1 hour and that was good for us yet others may take longer.

If you haven't or rarely go to zoos, Sydney Zoo is a great international zoo. We live in Ohio so we have the great Columbus and Cincinnati Zoo
.what the Wild Life Sydney Zoo offers, a quick, up close view of animals found in Australia. It is great! You walk onto paths that have kangaroos wombats roaming free. You can feed the kangaroos with purchase pellets. The problem with that is many of the kangaroos are going to be full at the end of the day. There was also a koala up close picture opportunity. The fee was 25 Australian. Unfortunately, you will NOT be able to hold or touch the koalas. Post the devastating fires in Australia New South Wales has outlawed humans touching koalas. We were able to actually pet a koala at the Lone Pine sanctuary in Queensland. We were just happy to say that we actually visited the Sydney Zoo. Also if you're going on to New Zealand do not buy anything that is made of wood. You will not be able to bring it into New Zealand.

Amazing the amount of animals they can fit into a small area of circular quay. It looks small from outside but the enclosures are well planned out. The highlight is probably seeing the cassowary up close. Best seen by buying a Merlin annual pass which gets you into aquarium, wax museum and Sydney eye

Total rip. In a warehouse. Animals in small pens, but90% in their sleeping huts so couldn’t see them. Not worth five dollars.

Keepers and facilities were great. More of a tourist destination to educate about aussie eildlife rather then something I'd recommend for Aussie locals

Even though a smaller zoo, it was quite enjoyable and I liked all the info boards/and information sessions associated with the animals. The children and everyone enjoyed the kangaroos and koalas as well, with everyone taking many pictures.

Great experience within Sydney. It looks like the animals are well taken care of and protected. Please go here instead of Featherdale Wildlife Park. I can’t stress enough the difference of how the animals there are packed up and in tough conditions compared yo other Australian parks

We chose to visit this zoo rather than a larger one because of its convenient location and the koala experience. It exceeded our expectations. We got to see the Australian "big 5" animals, and because it is small, you could be very close to all of the animals. We especially enjoyed the kangaroos, wallabies, platypus, and of course the koalas. It was amazing to be able to be so close to these sweet, gentle creatures. The animal habitats were very clean and well maintained, and there were a lot of very helpful and informative staff members. Highly recommend.
