I loved everything about the home, the condition, the guides were friendly and experienced, the history and the light lunch we enjoyed at the cafe finished off a great day. Would thoroughly recommend.

I came to Vaucluse House with my Austen book club and absolutely adored it. With a gorgeous tea room (although questionable service, and they wouldn't let us inside as there was a function later that afternoon) and gift shop, the highlight was the tour around the house itself. The Vaucluse House is about a 45 minute ride on the 325 bus from the Circular Quay. It is worth the trip. The house itself has an interesting background and the staff tours provide much insight into early Sydney history. The grounds are lovely. There are also many interesting birds which may be seen in addition to the trees and...

The tea rooms were also lovely - not the usual junk food that you seem to get at most venues. All the staff were very cheerful &...

If you've "done" the usual Sydney Harbour sights - Opera House, Bridge, the Rocks, Darling Harbour, Taronga Zoo, Manly Ferry etc - and maybe need a bit of a break from the usual crowded tourist haunts, I would definitely recommend Vaucluse House for a bit of Australian colonial history. It's also a great place to take visitors to Sydney for...
