Probably the best site we visited on our trip. Better than Chichen Itza for several reasons, for example, more compact and cheaper to get in. But best thing is that several of the ruins can be climbed, which gives the most wonderful views across the peninsula. It makes it so much easier to understand the layout of the site and...

Beautiful, soulful place that gave a feeling of tranquility and of being entirely alone, even though you weren't. The ruins are stunning and the whole area was as unspoilt as it could be. There were no intrusive hawkers on the site so you can stroll and take in the sheer beauty of the place without being hassled. We visited Chichen...

Perhaps we enjoyed these ruins so much because: 1. They are amazingly beautiful; and 2. There are no vendors squawking their merchandise inside the archaeological site. The place was serene, the birds were singing, the iguanas were basking in the sun, and the ruins are breathtaking. We spend half a day with Mayans Explorers private tour company here. The Puuc architecture is stunning. No vendors makes a huge difference in atmosphere too. Not 1 jaguar whistle heard here! Plus you can climb around just enough to give you a feel of the grandness of this large and mysterious city. Sadly you can't climb the big pyramid...

As you walked around, you could imagine what it used to look and feel like.

What can I say that hasn't been said? This is a large Mayan ruin site with many diverse buildings that are easy to appreciate as one walks through the clearings and open forest. If one is a birder, there is plenty to see in the trees right around most of the buildings, as well as in the fringes of the...

We hired a guide before we went in. His price was less and he was very good. You need to wear good shoes. You do a lot of climbing up and down at this site. If you have serious problems with your knees or hips you may want to reconsider this adventure. Worth the effort if you are up to...

My husband and I went on a cruise out of Galveston on the Carnival Triumph. Our 3rd cruise. We traveled with another couple and their kids, 6 and 10. Our friends set up the day for us with a tour guide out of Merida - David Echeverria Garcia. He was great! He is of Mayan descent and was very knowledgeable...
