We just happened on this...on goodness...it was the best afternoon! Have tea at the Courtyard Cafe! Wear good shoes and walk the River Walk trail. Nice gift shop. The telescope is amazing. And a nice exhibition at the beginning. More

The grounds and the gardens in Birr Castle are very much worth a visit. There is so much to see. The Castle is still a private family home and is thus not open to the public. Spent the whole of a Sunday afternoon walking around Birr Castle Demesne. It was amazing. The layout of the self-walked tour is fantastic. The gardens are just amazing. The Telescope was an eye-opener indeed. A really excellent way to spend an afternoon/day, I could not recommend it more highly! More
