First my warnings, if you are 60+ years old wear sturdy footwear all the paths are gravel & there is very limited seating available throughout the park. That being said, this place is one of the few truly genuine folk parks I've visited. The buildings were family homes, & that was their church. They reek of peat & are just... More

Bunratty castle and folk park offers lots to see on a day out, the place holds the castle, a folk park which details how life was lived in Ireland in the not so distant pass and all located within a nice walking area. The walk starts off with some old style houses showing how people in the area used to... More

On the way to the castle, one walks through an area with dwellings dating back centuries. Upon entering the courtyard of the castle, there are several cannon sitting on an embankment to one's right. Inside the castle are numerous spiral stairs leading to various rooms inside the castle. If a person lets his mind wander, he can picture knights and... More

This was the first attraction we visited after landing in Shannon and was a nice intro for what was to come on our trip. In one section of the park you're able to walk inside the different types of dwellings and see the way the Irish would have lived. Bunratty Castle itself is in good condition and a lot of... More

During my travels I have been in as is castles and as great as they are, a restored castle is amazing. Bunratty is beautiful and a must see. You are immersed in history, you will be in awe. The folk park just makes it better, be sure to stop for scones. Lovely!

We visited Bunratty castle and had a very good time. It was nice the way they had the grounds laid out like an old Irish village. Lots of animals on the way up and back from the castle. The castle was very interesting but the stairs up and down were a bit of a challenge. And with everyone smaller in... More

As we love anything "old" and had been advised by friends to visit this place we decided to give it a go and boy are we glad we took their advice. We had a wonderful time here and really didn't want to leave the area. It was a great experience. I was however concerned about the animals as the pigs... More

One of the best sites we visited in Ireland. The area adjoining the castle was as though you were thrown back in time. Charming village with shops that would have been necessary then as even today. From a school to doctors offices and stores. Many with thatched roofs that gave off that homey settle in look.

Too short on hours exception, the gift shop. Animals were a bit too sparse. Add music to the village tour.

I love castles, any castle, but I hate seeing how this one looks fake since they built a road right next to it and the theme park along side. It's just sad to me. Didn't go in the castle but took pics from the outside.
