Thoor Ballylee is closed until June 2012 as it was flooded two years ago and is being repaired. It is still a beautiful place just to look at without going inside, W.B. Unfortunately the tower was still closed due to flooding when we visited but the setting is truly inspirational. This location is very tricky to get to as it is well off the beaten path. The signs aren't always clear and the roads get very narrow at places. When you do arrive, the parking lot is just before the bridge that... More

The tower itself was closed in July for renovation due to flooding. The area though is pretty with a small river and the forest around the tower. It is not visible from further up the road so at first we thought we got lost. Just follow the signs and you will find it. More
