The star shaped fort is huge and has been through a few transformations - from the Kinsale siege, the Irish Civil War and the fort's later use as a British Army Barracks. We enjoyed wandering along the top of the walls and through the restored buildings. The old commander's building had a wonderful historical display, including a video which gave... More

What a super place to visit, so lovely to fully explore with no barriers. Great value at only 4 euro per person, on a hot day would spend hours and hours looking at the view More

Just a short drive up the hill from Kinsale lies Charles Fort. With it's fantastic views of Summer Cove and the surrounding countryside it is certainly worth your time. But that is just the beginning. This isn't your average stroll through and take a couple pictures attraction. The fort itself is massive, in fact it's more of a town within... More

Beautiful views of Kinsale and some lovely photo ops. We enjoyed some of the interactive displays and learned quite a bit. As it was a self-guided tour, it was a great opportunity to tour at your own pace and concentrate on your own areas of interest. More

We have star forts in the U.S., but they are very small compared to Charles Fort. You don't have to stay for hours, but it's definitely worth a stop. More

From when you walk in the door, the place is magical and full of history (but not the boring kind) Admission prices are very reasonable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are exhibitions and information station areas but after this the place is yours to explore. Children love it because of all of the buildings that they... More
