Don't forget your CAMERA!........ The climb to the top of Tomaree Headland will take you comfortably, around 20-25 minutes. The resulting views that await you, will make you so glad you made the accent......... Views!...... Views!,...... and more Views! Great exercise, Highly recommended to all ages 5+. I've done this walk at least 50 times now as my family regularly goes to Shoal Bay. The 360 view from the top is spectacular, as are the various lookouts from about the final 20%. I recommend this walk on clear but cool days year round except peak summer when there tends... More

The whole of Port Stephens and Nelson Bay are idyllic locations for the holiday maker. Tomaree Head is a spectacular lookout overlooking all of the Port and out to sea. More

A 2 km walk but up some steep paths with some steps to climb. Our 4 year old managed to make it both ways without much assistance so its a nice family outing that most can manage. Once up there, you get a great 360 degree view of the Shoal Bay area which is pretty spectacular. If its a rainy... More

It is a short walk from Shoal Bay beach. The climb itself takes about 30 minutes, But do not underestimate the difficulty, it is quite steep hence challenging. There are few benches along the way where you can have some rest and catch some air. But the view worths all the effort, so keep climbing! More

Tomaree Head was quite a surprise find for us. Hidden at the end of the Shoal Bay road the path to the mountain top revealed itself like magic. There couldn't have been a better time to climb up there, right before sunset, the stroll was brisk and not steep at all. Bring up a blanket and picnic basket, (but do... More
