it's stunning and not to be missed - its a bit of a walk from the car park to the navette - the free shuttle - but so worth it. Better than the Pyramids of Giza or Eiffle Tower. Not to be missed More

We have a 4 and 6 year old and they loved walking up to the top of the abbey to see the magnificent views, I swear you can see 1/2 of France from the top. The kids were impressed by the history and artifacts contained in the tour of the abbey. More

If you came with an umbrella stroller, you can easily mozy up the long twisty pathway with all the other tourists (body-to-body) because it is severely crowded and you pass by souvenir shops and ice-cream places that your children want to stop and buy. Then you need to carry that stroller up several flights of stairs (outdoors and in) but... More

There's a reason this is so popular. Forget the restaurants... the hotels... the junky shops... it's all about the abbey... and the setting. We headed here from Dinan on the bank holiday in May... and arrived there early. The parking is organized... very organized. The you start walking and that's what it's all about. It was a misty cool morning... More

There's a reason people have been flocking here forever. It is really, really beautiful. Admission to the island is free - you don't have to pay unless you go into one of the museums or into the Abbey at the very top (9 euros). I highly recommend touring the Abbey - my favorite spot was the cloistered garden, which is... More

Make sure you arrive at the Mont before noon if you are travelling in Spring/Summer months as the traffic jam to get into the carparks after that becomes (in my opinion) intolerably long!!!! Having said that, once you have parked in the very well organised car park, it is easy to reach the Mont and the Abbaye... you can walk... More
