We have a 4 and 6 year old and they loved walking up to the top of the abbey to see the magnificent views, I swear you can see 1/2 of France from the top. The kids were impressed by the history and artifacts contained in the tour of the abbey.

There's a reason this is so popular. Forget the restaurants... the hotels... the junky shops... it's all about the abbey... and the setting.
We headed here from Dinan on the bank holiday in May... and arrived there early. The parking is organized... very organized. The you start walking and that's what it's all about. It was a misty cool morning...

Make sure you arrive at the Mont before noon if you are travelling in Spring/Summer months as the traffic jam to get into the carparks after that becomes (in my opinion) intolerably long!!!! Having said that, once you have parked in the very well organised car park, it is easy to reach the Mont and the Abbaye... you can walk...
