Good is the view and a lot of parking space. Bad is the service and the restaurant (more like a canteen) is awful.

A magnificant convent high up on the mountain worth a visit when in Alsace especially from Obernei.

Nice view over the valley. Peace and quiet. Take the time to walk inside and learn about Sainte-Odile.

Just 45 minutes drive from Strasbourg lies the beautiful convent Mont Saine Odile. Perched on a mountain top, it has a fantastic view over the area. The path leading up to the convent is lined with statues marking the 12 (or is it 13 or 14?) stations, the path of Christ's crucifixion - if you're into that, if not it's...

We really enjoyed our visit. The view is amazing. You can see for miles. It was free of charge when we visited at about 5pm. It had 2 restaurants. One was open. We didnt stay for food. A very pleasant and interesting place to visit.

That aside, Mont Sainte Odile was OK. The little chapels with beautiful mosaics were really interesting, and I enjoyed those the most. However, the whole place was way too touristy,...

I managed to persuade my family to drive up from Ottrott and it was more than worth it - even the 13-year-old became interested and appreciated the awe-inspiring views when we were inside at the top. We all loved the pretty tiny grotto-style chapel in the grounds with its beautiful mosaics.
Once you step through the main archway into another...
