This church has the most beautiful fresco. The work behind the altar or apse are by Fra Filippo Lippi, whose tomb lies in the church. Sandro Botticelli and Filippino Lippi, his son, were some of his well known pupils.

The cathedral is the pride of Spoleto and well worth making a special journey. The Piazza del Duomo in front of the cathedral is used as a concert venue during the festival.
The buldings and square are sunwashed and the colour of bread. The architecture ( the outside of the building )is elegantly simple and the piazza's triangular shape leads the eye and makes you feel like you are in the set of a play. See it in daylight and nighttime..
Located on a spectacular square (frequently used for evening concerts), this cathedral has a spectacular mosaic on its main facade and a wonderful mural behind the main altar. It also has an original hand written letter of Francis of Assisi
The carvings on the facade are intricate and contain a multitude of romanesque themes.
