Being there is worth visiting the site of the italian "vate" - nice museum - beautiful location overlooking the Garda see - parking easy nearby (overpriced on my opition) - if you have time visit also the house - is overloaded but you better understand the man D'Annunzio. More

The house and gardens are very fascinating, the house is stuffed full of odds and ends. There are several seperate museums containing war memorablia and the clothes of Gabriele d'Annunzio the poet who lived there and created the house and gardens. The front section of an early 1900s Italian Navy Crusier has also been set into the hillside and the... More

Long queues to buy the tickets (only 1 person selling tickets and a very slow approach). Nice gardens. Unusual design and having a large WW1 boat on the top of the hill among the trees was a real curiosity. We were put off the house visit by being told there was a 40 minute wait to get in. Apparently you... More

I loved the Il Vittoriale it was a true delight to see inside Gabriel's house and look at all his collections and the way he arranged his possessions - I could have spent a week ! The gardens were beautiful and the boat, the mausoleum and various statues added to the overall quirkiness. I would recommend this as a must... More

I'm not really a relic or ruins type of person so this place wasn't really my cup of tea. We spent a couple of hours there as it is a big place and there is a lot of walking up steep steps and hills to negotiate. The house itself was closed for no reason whatsoever. The lady at the ticket... More

We did not go to see the house, but will definately go back and see this next time. The gardens were lovely and around every corner was another curiosity - a boat, a mauseleum, an amphitheatre.....all with great views of the lake. It is not particularly touristy (lots of the signs were only in Italian) but this just added to... More
