Wouu, I think the hardest day ona Bike in my life ending with climb to Gavia. We were the only ones on the road and it was covered in snow. Once we reach the top, the skies clear up and we descent with amazing view of The Alps. I'll be back this year!

As the title says, this is a great climb up from Bormio. It starts off gentle until you get to Santa Caterina, then coming out of SC, you climb up through the forest with great views across the valley. Nearer the top, there is a quite steep section of approx. 12% for a good kilometre or so, but once you... More

The pass is closed in Winter - though you can ski into it from the top of the Santa Katarina lift network. The mountains surrounding the pass are stunningly beautiful - and you can the ski out on the snow covered road.

I did Stelvio the day before. That was maybe harder, Gavia is worse. It is SO cold in the end. Frozen lakes and snow walls surronding you as you climb to the summit. The last 2km is horribly. Is COLD and at least I was totally exhausted. Worst climb ever. Maybe a bad day. On the summit there is a... More

We were lucky to drive over Gavia Pass in great weather, with clear blue skies and no wind so we were able to really appreciate the stunning views and remote mountains in this area. It was a relatively quiet drive for Italy, with not too many cars which was just as well - the road is extremely narrow and steep... More

When you plan to drive to Bormio on a motorcycle, the Passo di Gavia is the route to chose. Very small and winding roads but a lot of fun in a captivative landscape.

My wife and I walked here from the Berni Rifugio just down the valley. In fact the day before we walked the lengthof the pass but on a balcony route high up on the east side of the valley from Val Forni. There is a picturesque lake near the pass head and a good retsaurant/cafe where we ate lunch. It... More

A great cycle up the legendary Passo Di Gavia from Bormio. Well worth the effort, from the sunny pastures you quickly climb onto snowy plains and back again at breakneck speed. Brilliant
