Great little area. Music, jewellery, make it yourself and weird religious stuff. A nice asset to any town
a walk around the creative quarter is a real pleasure. during the day the art shops are open then at night it has festive lights which give it a different perspective.
When in Folkestone people must visit the Creative Quarter. We find it a nice spot for eating french food at Fresh and Easy and there's a new fancy Coffee House (which name I don't remember now). The variety of shops is wonderful from furniture to guitars; tiles to souvenirs; Décor to paintings and from Vintage to Modern! Lovely.
i loved the narrow, hilly. cobblestone alleyways that once houses a thriving artisan community. Currently, the local council is encouraging artists from all spheres to showcase their work by offering space in this area.
The beautiful weather made this visit worthwhile, beautiful old buildings and well maintained flower beds. The arts area was quaint, although several shops were vacant as is with most towns nowadays, we had an excellent meal outside one of the bistros, chicken and chorizo salad which was excellent washed down with sangria on tap, better value than a nearby pub... if its art you like you must not miss the quarter ,there are many art studios,showing off many kinds of art and there is always a nice art work to buy from young up and coming artiste to well established ones ,so don't miss out on a bargain
A very good range of shops and galleries and excellent cafes and restaurants. The only reason I didn't give "Excellent" grade is because there are still a few empty shops and some work to be done. But, what has been done is fantastic and it is constantly improving thanks to a lot of hard work.
There are some very nice parts to Folkestone and the surrounding areas such as cliff top walks with lovely views, the lower Leas under cliff Coastal Park which is very pretty and great for children. The Creative Quarter is a good idea but its not really creative and rather disappointing though there is some nice art work amongst the shabby... More
