It's almost incredible that you can drive from Svolvær and over the different Lofoten islands to the end of the road, Å, which is also the last letter in the Norwegian alphabet. The road goes between steep mountains, over bridges, even in a tunnel under the sea. Everywhere you can se spectacular sceneries. We went in the end of May... More

Small fee but brilliant. Everything collected over 40 yrs by the owner. See the German typewriter with the "SS" key, Hitler's specs, cyanide capsules (made in Hamburg) and hundreds of fascinating exhibits.

I have travelled a lot in Norway, even so much that I have decided to live here. Living in the south west (for economical reasons) for me the North and North West is the most attractive area of Norway. Travelled the Lofoten several times from the south (Å) the town with the shortest name in the world to the Vesteralen... More

This pearl is in one of those top five places when talking about serious photographing. It's not always sunny and easy weather there, but that's the point to go there with open mind to beauty of untouched nature.

We travelled to the Lofoten Islands in the month of February, totally off season. While the islands are still snow laden and all the tourist attractions that operate in the summer months are still not around, the island has a strange, stunning unexplainable beauty during this month. We boarded the Hurtigruten cruise ship MS Trollfjord from Trondheim and after an... More

This is one of our favorite destinations in Lofoten. Me and my husband have been there several times and it's truly a stunning place to spend a sunny day! Bring food & water/coffee, books and other relaxing materials. If you fancy taking a dip in the cold sea it's possible. It's advisable to bring good boots since it might get... More

Norwegians go to Lofoten on holiday when they want to experience their own country like international visitors do. Not really suitable for a quick tour - and dont expect any man-made attractions for holiday makers or mach in the way of facilities - Lofoten is for exploring coast and mountain, and discovering. E.g. Important evidence of life in Viking times.

Northern Norway is quite rugged. It is amazing that people have made a foothold in the stark landscape. The Lofoten Islands are north of the Arctic Circle, but warmed by the Gulf Stream. There are great opportunities for viewing wildlife and the mountainous scenery.

These islands are magical and the combination of mountains, sea and light make them unforgetable. They warrent an entire holiday (next time). It is easy to see why artists fall in love with them.

Sorrounded by sea and high mountains, Lofoten Island is a paradise to enjoy. Perfect place for trekking, hiking or just chilling. I'd recommend to go there in june, when you can enjoy 24 hours of sun and quite good weather. You can rent bikes and go through all the island or do it with a car, we took this last... More
