A very small museum about the history of Vienna. I liked the rooms of Loos and Grillpatzer. There are some models of Vienna in the past. I had been to the Roman museum on the Hohe Markt, so I had seen the Roman part before. Don't take more than an hour, The special Klimt exposition wasn't open yet. More

If you love the city of Vienna and want to learn even more about its history and culture, this museum is for you! I'm not going to recommend as a must for the first time visitor to Vienna , not because it's not a great and interesting museum, but because there are so many other attractions for a newcomer to... The admission price is too high, but the collection is superlative, not to mention the building by Gottfried Semper and Carl Hasenauer, two of the major Ringstrasse architects. More

A great overview of the fascinating history of this important town. This place does an excellent cross-section of Viennese history -- from Roman to Klimt, from Turkish seige battle armor to anti-fascist propaganda during WW II. Defintely worth any tourist's time, in my opinion. The scale models of Vienna before and after the installation of the Ring is worht the... More

A great city, easy to get around and full of history that can easily fill your day. Dont forget your walking shoes, water and your camera as you visit the natural history museum and the museum of fine arts. You must see also the beautiful St Stephen's Cathedral and the Schonbrunn Palace and sample great tasting ice cream. More

This museum actually has a number of locations throughout the city. We have only visited the main one, near the Karlskirche. Admission is listed on the website as 2 Euros, but as I recall we paid more like 5 Euros on a recent visit. It is free for visitors under 19 and free to everyone the first Sunday of the... More

This museum is heavy on scale models and maps, going back to the Vindobana Roman era. It seemed to lack focus, theme, depth. It would have benefitted from more informational panels or brochures; something to put more of a human face on the history. More

There is such a wide choice of museums in Vienna and it was confusing to know which one would give us the best on history of Vienna. This one hit the spot perfectly and was well worth €6 entry. Until 21 Aug 11 is excellent special exhibition on St Stephens church with original architect plans on show and great photos... More

Went to this museum last while we were in Vienna, and as such, it didn't have as much wow factor for us. Too many museums in too few days probably left us a bit glazed over. There were some highlights that I wanted to share. What was really interesting in this museum was seeing suits of armor, the scale models... More
