Loved the Mirrabel gardens, sound of music tour, pretty city and friendly locals. Give the Mozart dinner a miss.

It was fun to take the bus to see Salzburg with its musical history, picaresque side streets, interesting shops and statues. We had an original Sacher torte, a nice meal at the Elefant Restaurant and a very pleasant day to see the sights despite no help form the weather.
This is a very attractive place to spend a couple of hours looking around. It is picturesque qith a fantastic selection of mainly upmarket shops. The main downside is that there are lots of professional beggars.
The Old Town and Market Place was great. This was and is still, a very wealthy city / It was just as beautiful as what I watched in Sound of Music. Many designers shops are incorporated discretely into old buildings.
Good town to walk without difficulty. Parking underground in town is an easy stroll underground to come out in the Old Town. Take the opportunity to cross the river. Due to a music festival a few locations were closed and it was very crowded.

The fresh market had all kinds of flowers and my favorite mushrooms. I couldn't believe I found them for...

Wander around! The narrow streets, gorgeous churches, shops, cemeteries, Festivals views--all will enchant you. Count how many are wearing traditional costumes.
We spent a week based in Salzburg's Old Town and it was sheer joy. The Old Town is very compact so everything is easily accessible on foot and if you do want to go further afield, there's plenty of public transport. With lots of lovely architecture, plenty of reasonable priced places to eat and drink and a genuinely warm and...

Worth a visit in Austria. I think 2 full days should be enough for strolling around the city or town. Otherwise, add a few more days if you also want to go biking around the city, that should be fun!
