You like cats this is the place tot go. It is so peaveful and tranquil. Whatever you do when you are en route to the convent don't stop! Akrotiri is where the communications systems are. More

The review of St. Nicholas of the Cats is sadly quite accurate. The cats were introduced by a saint hundreds of years ago to control the snakes which infested the area which is why the Cypriot government, I am led to believe, gives a grant towards their keep. I visited St Nicholas of the Cats monastery in April 2010 after reading about it in various guidebooks. I found it disappointing. It was easy enough to find on the peninsula, near Akrotiri village and the salt lake. There is a small area for parking and a gate for pedestrians to enter the monastery area.
