The building is an old parkland villa in beautiful grounds, extended and renovated to a high standard over several years. It is just a stone's throw from the centre of town. It is not a large scale museum like you get in Paris, London or New York.

This is a villa, so don't expect a large museum, but it had a nice collection. When I was there the collection theme was maritime dutch paintings (1500-1700).

A sweet little Villa in a park. Don't be deceived - it mostly lies underground in a reconstruction from a couple of years ago. Lovely galleries, well integrated with the Park and a couple of fascinating exhibitions, especially one about Paris in the 19th century, with many superb borrowed pieces.

It is a relatively small museum, it takes an hour to go thru all the halls but the nice atmosphere inside the building make the visit worth. Nice, cute gardens next to the pond for small kids to play
