I first visited the museum in 1998 and again in 1999...Since then I have only had 1 or 2 opportunities to 'end up' in Helsinki...but it is a special part of any visit...and illustrates the influences of the swedish/Finnish immigrants, in nUSA, over the past 200 years (almost haha). Just thinking back to my visit fills my chest with 'longing'... More

This park-like museum displays various habitations from various areas throughout Finland. For Finns, they are all representative of various areas of the country. For foreigners, they all seem to be log cabins with mostly thatched roofs. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the Finnish woodland environment. More

I love to visit Seurasaari - because of it calm little roads over whole island, historical buildings are fun for tourists and children, few little cafes, places fro grilling your sausage. You may fid squirrels and birds as well! More

Very nice place both for walking on a nice island and see old Finnish buildings. The only things I was missing were the open buildings, it would have been nice to a take a look even from inside. I'm not sure, wheter it was because we visited the place in beginning May, there might be open houses during summer months.... More

Roam freely and see the museum buildings from the outside or hire a guide to take you in and tell you more about them. The restaurant on the island is fabulous for reserving for large parties and the food is utterly sumptious. Try some of the local berry wines also. Look up the opening hours on the Internet and do... An easy bus ride from the centre of town (we walked out and rode the bus back) brings you to this enchanting self-guided tour of the early settlement of Helsinki. You walk across a wooden bridge to get to the settlement, which is on a small island you can easily walk around in an hour or so but its worth... More

You walk across a long wooden bridge onto an island small enough to walk around in about an hour. It has ancient wooden houses, huts, storage buildings and incredibly long wooden rowing boats dotted around it, offering an insight into the Finland of old. These have been brought from all around Finland. Partly forest, it has numerous, quite tame red... More
