I went on a ski trip to Yllas last week of Feb 2012 to combine seeing the northern lights with skiing and stayed at the Yllas Saaga hotel. It is difficult to get a reasonably priced deal on this trip if you book it yourself and Inghams seem to be the only operator on the market offering a package deal.... More

Finnish Lapland has several great skiing areas but Ylläs is the most extensive of them. It is mostly flat with seven low mountains at some distance from each other. The whole area is covered with extremely well prepared skiing tracks, at least some 250-300 kilometers. The Ylläs mountain has also downhill skiing but this does not compare with Alps, as... More

Four of us visited Yllas in mid February with skiing ability from beginner to very experienced. We only did downhill skiing so the review relates to this but there were lots of cross country ski trails which were floodlight until late evening. Pistes & Skiing We stayed mainly on the south side of the fell but you can cross over... More

I have been a regular skier to Finland during the past decade, first visiting Levi, and then two visits to Pyha, and now Yllas on Feb 4th 2012. If I am honest, the skiing is not challenging, but I have long-since passed the stage of leaping off cornices and plummeting down diamond blacks. My record of four visits to Finland... More

Good gloves and a Balaclava needed. They shut the one Gondola if it is windy leaving you with some long t bar rides and they close these too if windy, snowy or whatever leaving you with some flat blueish nursery runs. This is not a resort for real ski fanatics but would work well for novices with young children. Low... More

A great ski slope and very reasonable prices. Ski lifts, kids area, bar, restaurant and sledging area for kids ;0) Ski pass is needed to access the slopes. There are lessons with an instructor for one to one or small groups. More

We took our own skis which was interesting when we had to find our way to the ski bus from our log Cabin in Akaslampolo. We decided to ski down the road on the first day to the hotel where the ski bus called. We hired a ski locker for 35 Euros for the week at the ski centre to... More

Just returned from our second ski trip to Yllas, the first being in March 2008. We absolutely love this place - I agree that the drag lifts are fairly tiring and would love it if they invested in some high speed chairs but in my opinion the advantages of this resort outweight the disadvantages. Huge wide empty pistes, amazing snow,... More

Just got back from a skiing holiday in the Saaga hotel and appartments, and quite honestly I am at a loss as to why people are calling this place. The skiing and snow conditions were excellent. plenty of snow and if you wrap up warm you do not notice the low temperatures. Some people have complained about the drag lifts.... More
